Fundraising for DWCon 2016's chosen charities!
In each Discworld Convention, we host a Charity Auction to raise money for the charities we are supporting, and to give our members a chance to find some special Discworld-related items! In the past we have had everything from props from the television adaptations to home-made knitted dolls of famous Discworld figures.
Our Supported Charities
As always we are supporting The Orangutan Foundation for their excellent conservation work. In keeping with the Convention's theme of The Band With Rocks In, we are also supporting Music Therapy Works, which aims to provide therapy to people of all ages who struggle with verbal communication.
How To Donate
We do rely on people donating items for the charity auction. If you have something you'd like to donate to the charity auction, we do need you to let the auction team know in advance. To put something in the auction, please email the auction team at firstname.lastname@example.org to let them know what you are offering and what condition it is in.
The closing date for registration is 1st July 2016. This is to allow the auction team time to produce a catalogue for all you prospective buyers out there.
What happens next
The auction team may then ask for more information or photographs. If your item is accepted you will receive an auction item number describing its place in the catalogue, and instructions for bringing your item to the Convention.
The auction will be shorter than previous ones, and we expect to have room for approximately 60 lots. This may mean the auction team will have to turn down items.
The email address for all enquires regarding the auction, and to register is: email@example.com.
